New York Kick Off!

The kickoff reading for the tour was a smash success! An enthusiastic audience of over 50 people were treated to a sampling of team pieces and individual work in both German and English.

Because of the sponsorship of the Goethe Institute and the attendance of members of the NYC German Language Meetup (Big thanks to Amy Saner!) there was a high precentage of German speakers in the audience.

Edna McCown and Brigitte Doellgast hosted a delightful reception for the poets at the Goethe Institute after the reading.
What a sweet introduction to New York and the U.S.!

Here is a poem Lars read in the voice of a person he worked with in the Alzheimer's Poetry Project.

Alzpoesie Berlin

I’m the captain of the seven seas in my bath tub
And my mission is called
“Huzza!”
Asked me and I’ll say “Huzza!”
The wind is stronger
The sail is my thick belly
I gave away the oar
No worries, no distress
Close the window
I’m drowning
In a dress made of foam
Gone in warm flurries
My bonnie lies…
My bonnie lies…
The logbook is wet
Where does this wave surge?
Stranded in an unknown land.
